According to Gartner “Edge computing is a part of a distributed computing topology in which information processing is located close to the edge where things and people produce or consume that information”.  Edge computing is a distributed computing framework that transports enterprise applications closer to data sources such as IoT devices or local edge servers. This closeness to data at its source can deliver strong business benefits: faster insights, enriched response times and better bandwidth availability.

Edge computing is changing the way data is being processed and delivered across the world.  This network technology is used by 5G Technology on Robotics, Self-driving cars, Artificial Intelligence and others.

The biggest benefit for a company which uses Edge computing will be faster processing of data, it saves manpower and time.  Normally data from cctv cameras are sent to cloud servers where motion detection system is applied to monitor all places where motion is detected, with the availability of edge computing cctc camera can use motion detection system in internal computer and only filtered videos will be forwarded to cloud so it saves bandwidth and removes latency.

Edge computing saves lot of money since cloud and more bandwidth usage cost more, this technology reduces usage of more data. The benefits of Edge computing are Speed, Security, Scalability, Versatility, Reliability etc.  Edge Computing is the next generation technology.
